I am on another rant about abusers getting away with molesting children. I should avoid the news but I seem to always get sucked in. What is even more mind-blowing to me are the people that continue to cover for them and excuse their behavior because of their positions.
Former football coach, Jerry Sandusky is a prime example of this. I am sure that everyone has been made aware of this through the news media. It is hard to escape these stories.
These are not even alleged assaults. Sandusky was witnessed anally raping a 10-year old boy in the shower. The irony was not lost on Dr. Drew. Matt Hahn a former Penn State football player said that this particular incident occurred the day before Spring break, making this an opportunity for Sandusky to have access to this innocent 10-year old male victim because there is usually no one around.
Dr. Drew’s fury was palpable, as is mine. Not only is it against the law not to report this behavior it is moral. Thank God Joe Paterno has been under fire and has been forced to resign. He says that he regrets not doing more. It is so nice to know that he regrets not doing more.
Even more sickening is those that are so loyal to Penn State and these monsters that feel that he should be allowed to finish out the season for the good of the college? These children’s lives have been ruined or at least radically impacted for the rest of the their lives, and people want to protect the monsters that molest and rape them?
I hope that Sandusky spends the rest of his life in prison. It isn’t going to happen but it should. More and more victims are coming forward. Troy Craig said how uncomfortable it was for him as a 12-year old boy to ride in the car with Sandusky, who would keep his hand on his thigh during the drive. Craig said that he asked another boy about this behavior. The boy said that Sandusky was just weird that way.
Anyone who knows anything about sexual abuse knows that it is even harder for boys and men to admit or confront sexual abuse. Boys have been taught to be strong. It has been more socially acceptable for girls to be weak and vulnerable. Boys are often asked why they didn’t fight back. It is pathetic. A child is a child. All children are vulnerable and victims. The fact that Sandusky would slime his way into helping at risk children is even more despicable. Unfortunately that is how many of these monsters get access to children, under the guise of caring about them.
I hope that all involved in this cover up are held accountable and have to pay severe consequences. One can only hope and pray. I pray for all the victims and I personally want them to know that I applaud them for their strength to stand up and expose these monsters.
