Currently, we have Senators who are actually stating that they are not paid enough for the hours they work and some say they are living paycheck to paycheck. Well, we need to tell them to “stop your whining!” They are earning $174,000 per year while 41 million Americans are out of work and living off of food stamps and housing assistance. Others are homeless on the streets, living in tent cities, shelters, or in their cars.
If they are that dissatisfied, America is accepting resignations from members of congress at this time! They get more breaks, take more time off than those fortunate enough to have a job, and yet they whine. They have an office in Washington DC and most have at least 4 offices in their home state, all complete with a staff. They spend long hours on the campaign trail, by choice, they spend many hours meeting with the corporate lobbyist, by choice. Their staffers spend long hours doing their work, so that they can actually show up to make meaningless comments and possibly vote at the capital. They get to vote on their own pay raises, while Americans are either in a pay freeze or negotiating a pay reduction. Stop whining or get out.
They should take their own advice, take the Presidents advice – make the tough choices and sacrifices that all of them on Capital Hill are always shoving down our throats. Many of them are millionaires or at least have a business and other investments, not to mention other perks that “We the People” don’t have. If they can’t make it off of $174.000 annually, then it is time for them to re-evaluate the manner in which they are living their life style. Maybe they purchased a little too much house or houses, maybe too many cars, either way, we don’t care, get out of office or do your job and quit being a cry baby. Remember, you were not doing this for money, but for America.
Americans are very unhappy with the performance of all of the politicians in Washington. Everyone on Capital Hill, regardless of party, has not done one thing in the best interest of America. They are usually to worried about not letting the other side win, well news flash, this is not a sports competition, but a job that they chose to run for. Yes, it is a job, that means we expect them to actually work while in office, even long hours, just like the rest of us who have jobs. We too are separated by our families by working long hours, sometimes we too have to travel for work related issues as well, depending on our careers. What about the truck drivers who are gone for weeks at a time and most certainly do not earn $174,000 annually.
They need to stop and think before they open their mouth and insert foot, that is the Vice Presidents job! What if the voters from each state had the option of voting if they were given a raise or pay freeze? What if the voters from each state were able to decide if their elected officials were paid according to their job performance? What if they did not get paid until the end of their term, based on their record of doing what they said? What if they were paid at the end of their term, provided there was no wrong doing? There are contractors who do not get paid until the job is done, what makes these people so special?
One thing that is guaranteed, their whining will not get much sympathy from the people who elected them, we are at a point we expect volunteers in office until the federal deficit is eliminated and there is a true surplus of government funds. This means smaller government, yes, they should have less offices, less staff, less agencies, less regulations, reduced spending, and increased revenue. Maybe, their whining is a sign that they all need to be replaced!
