Some of us long for a big space to enjoy with family and friends. Unfortunately, not everyone has a home that’s large enough for a game room or media center. However, if you have a garage, you may be in luck. It might be just the space you’ve been looking for. Let me show you three ways you can turn your garage into a place you can use for entertaining your favorite guests.
1 – A Place to Eat With Space to Dance
When you think about it, your garage and driveway provide more than enough space to get the gang together for an old-fashioned sock hop. Set up a bar with stools to serve food or refreshments. You could even add booths along the wall, if you can afford it. A quick peel and stick installation will give you a small dance floor. Or move the cars to the street and let the party spill out onto the driveway.
Decorate your newly claimed space with soda fountain attire or mount old records and posters to the walls. Use a retro-inspired red, white and black color scheme to bring back memories of the old hang out you once loved. You’ll be “cuttin’ a rug” before you know it.
2 – Your Own Pool Hall
So many of us have said, “I wish I had a room big enough for a pool table.” Well, wish no more. Turn your garage into your very own pool hall. If you’re willing to clear out the clutter and park on the driveway, it’s time to bring in the pool table. You can dress up the area with fancy furnishings or just brighten up the space with a coat of paint on the walls and floor.
It’s your option to do as much or as little as you need or whatever your budget can afford. Just center the pool table in the middle of the garage, provide a few seats for those who are waiting to “make a shot” and find a place to stash your refreshments.
3 – Mega Media Room and Home Theater
I had never even considered putting a home theater in my garage until I saw a picture of one posted by Robert Bliss of Bliss Home Theaters & Automation, Inc. What an outstanding use of garage space. A two-car garage would give you plenty of room for the biggest and best flat screen and movie-style seating units. Yes, a girl can dream.
The Garage Entertainment Center ideabook on Houzz has some wonderful ideas for turning that messy old garage into a place you can be proud of. Just don’t be surprised if your garage becomes the favorite hang out in your neighborhood.
