For the last decade, the musical Wicked has been redefining the entire Wizard of Oz story. Glinda the Good Witch was once a sweet and well-intentioned friend of the munchkins. In Wicked, Glinda is transformed into a selfish brat who knows how to achieve total popularity. If you are in love with Wicked, what better way to show your passion than to dress up in a Glinda costume?
Glinda the Good Witch wears a lot of different outfits over the course of the musical. Her most recognizable dress is worn during at the beginning of the first act and at the end of the second act. The dress is white, poofy and very sparkly. The skirt is layered in a scalloped style. The sleeves fall off the shoulder in little poufs.
You might not be able to find an exact replica of this dress for your Glinda costume, but you can come pretty close if you scour the local consignment shops. Keep your eyes peeled for a white ball gown, or even a poufy wedding dress. You may have to get a plain white dress and embellish it with rhinestones.
It takes more than a fancy dress to make a good Glinda costume. Glinda also wears a sparkly tiara and carries a matching scepter. When it comes to Glinda costume accessories, bigger is always better. The tiara should be at at least three inches tall, with a bold pattern. You can find some great tiaras in bridal shops or at Claire’s. The scepter is a little trickier to get a hold of. You might be able to find a silver scepter at your local costume shop. Otherwise, there are plenty of affordable versions available online.
Hair and Makeup

Makeup for the Glinda costume is fairly basic. Wear some mascara and shimmery shadow on your eyes, and apply pink blush to your cheekbones. Finish with just a hint of classic red lipstick. Once you’ve completed your Glinda costume, you’ll be ready for a magical night.
