Recently I bought a Kinect for Xbox 360 as well as Kinect sports season two. To give you a rundown of what this game has to offer I will go over each sports game and give you a description of the game play. The games that Kinect sports season two include are tennis, football, baseball, skiing, darts, and golf.
This is by far my favorite game on Kinect sports season two. To serve you have to throw the ball in the air and then hit it with the other hand. When you are volleying the ball back and forth you must actually hit the ball accurately with the racquet and not just swing away. Tennis on Kinect sports season two is fun and challenging especially when you are at the champion level in the game.
Although most reviews complain about this one I found it enjoyable. In football on Kinect sports season two you play quarterback, punter, kicker, and receiver. For me it’s everything you could ask for. You start the game by receiving the ball and running in place until your player gets tackled.
When you are the quarterback you get four downs to either get into field goal range or score a touchdown. To actually start the play you have to crouch in the quarterback position and either stand up or say “ready, hike”. The voice controls in this game make it so much more fun over just standing.
If you cannot score your touchdown you will either need to punt the ball or kick a field goal. Both are not very hard to do but are still fun and add to the games experience.
The only things I did not like about it are the fact that you cannot play any defense and you cannot avoid tackles or stiff arm while on offense. Other than those minor issues, I found football to be very enjoyable.
Baseball is another cool game. In baseball you play pitcher, batter, and fielder. Batting is fun and challenging enough to not just swing away and hope for the best like you do on Nintendo Wii. Once you hit the ball, you must run to first base without being thrown out.
When you are not batting you are pitching. You have a variety of pitches to make that are suggested to you. If the batter hits the ball you have a chance to catch it in the outfield.
This game is fun but not the best on the game and you only play two innings which is not much in my eyes.
Skiing is another game available on Kinect sports season two. This is a downhill skiing simulation. You move your player by leaning side to side and crouching for speed. You must go through all the gates and make it to the finish before the other player. If you miss a gate you get a two second penalty for every gate missed. It is fun and gets more challenging as you progress. When you have quite a few gates to go through you should standup as this slows your player down and gives you more control.
This is a classic game of darts where you aim with your arm and come back towards you and then throw towards the dart board. This game is fun but can become long. You start at 501 and work your way down to zero. First player to get exactly zero first and finish on the exact double number wins. I found this game enjoyable but hard to get the controls down exactly. With a little practice I’m sure you can master it though.
Golf is a great game is real life and just as great in Kinect sports season two as well. In this game some of the great features are the aerial view that you can perform anytime by viewing with your hand in the salute fashion, the changing of a club just by saying “change club”, or crouching down on the green to view the terrain or the green. This game is enjoyable and features a nine whole course for you to play on. This is kind of a bummer because 18 would have been better. Also this game is not very challenging as the best club is selected for you and the ball always goes straight. Overall, it is still fun.
Kinect sports season two has a few other cool features like quick games and challenges. You also gain fans every time you play that will come and watch you play at your events. The mini games are fun and just add to the games experience.
In all I am very happy with what Kinect sports season two has to offer. With six games to play this game will not get old fast in my house. I think anyone who likes the party style games will really enjoy this, and I would recommend it to anyone with the Kinect.
