Las Vegas, home to the annual Nevada Film Festival, is slated on Dec. 2 to 3, 2011 at the Rampart Casino at the Resort at Summerlin. Set in the entertainment capital of the world with reasonable proximity to Hollywood, the festival presents the Silver State’s celebration of an international gathering of independent filmmakers, diverse film audiences, and industry professionals. Geared towards finding the best and most talented writers from around the world, the Nevada Film Festival Screenplay Competition showcases feature and short screenplays coming from any genre and category. There will be five winners and 15 official finalists to be chosen for both the feature and short script competitions. Winners and finalists will receive products and services from festival sponsors and partners, agency/production company consideration of their works, access to producers, agents, managers, and other writers through different channels, and the opportunity to participate in the writer’s panel during the festival.
Submission fees and schedules for the screenplay competition are as follows: $25 for the Feb. 28 Early Bird Deadline; $30 for the May 31 Regular Deadline; $35 for the Aug. 31 Late Deadline, and $40 for the Sept. 20 Extended Deadlines. The Nevada Film Festival Actor’s Showcase is an annual competition showcasing the works of talented new and up-and-coming actors to and to help them gain exposure and recognition in the industry. Each actor must send a filmed scene, monologue, or acting reel demonstrating the applicant’s talent, along with the completed form coming from the website’s downloadable copy. There will be five winners and 15 official finalists to be selected to receive awards. All winners and finalists will have their works screened publicly at the festival.
