The Nissan Pixo is built on the Suzuki A-Star’s platform and shares the A-Star features also. Nissan Pixo will be manufactured in India and it is expected to launch in the market by the end of 2011. The car will be a rival to Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Maruti Wagon R, and Volkswagen Polo. Nissan Pixo comes with a 1 liter KB-series petrol engine, which comes with good fuel economy and also satisfies Euro 5 emission norms.
As the Pixo is made from the Suzuki A-star platform, there is no changes in dimensions from the A-Star. Even though Nissan has made extra effort in designing new exteriors for the Pixo, the car shares looks of a Suzuki’s car. The Pixo comes with an aggressive look with new front grilles, head lamp cluster, bumpers with fog lamps, body colored door handles, and side view mirrors. Nissan Pixo is a five door four-seater car with a boot space of 129-liter capacity, which can be extended to 367 liters when the back seats are folded by 50:50.
Nissan Pixo has got stylish interiors with enough space and quality plastics. The seats are wide and comfortable and can be manually adjusted. The dashboard has got the round speedometer, air conditioner vents without automatic climate control, enough storage space, and an integrated DIN audio system with two speakers on the front door. The steering wheel is three spoke with Nissan logo in the center, and the exterior side view mirrors can be manually adjusted from the inside. Nissan Pixo has the new luxury and convenient feature of keyless entry, and for safety the car has ABS with front ventilated and back disk brakes and two airbags at the front along with the side airbags.
Nissan Pixo comes with the same engine of the Maruti A-star- the 998cc, 3 cylinder twelve valve KB series engine, which is capable of delivering maximum power of 67 bhp at 6200 rpm and a peak torque of 90 Nm at a comparatively lower 3500 rpm. As said earlier, the engine satisfies Euro 5 standards that result in lower CO2 emissions of only 103k/km and is expected to deliver a mileage of 11.5kmp/l in city and 16.2 kmp/l on highways. The car has a turning radius of 4.5 meters and the suspension system is McPherson strut with isolated trailing link.
The car is expected to launch in the price range of 4 to 6 lakhs with two variants- Nissan Pixo Acenta and Pixo Visia. The Pixo Visia will be the base model of the vehicle, while the Acenta comes with features of power steering, central locking, electric windows, and the safety features including ABS and dual airbags at the front and side. The exterior color options of the car are not known yet.
