Every year, families get together for the last official weekend of outdoor activities, barbecuing and spending time together before winter comes. Students are starting to return to school and the adults are back from summer vacations. The Orlando area offers more for families to do this Labor Day weekend.
Harry P. Leu Gardens
There are two reasons to visit the Harry P. Leu Gardens this Labor Day weekend. One, is free admission to the gardens and two, is Date Night Movie Night. The first Monday of every month, including Labor Day, all guests are given free admission to the gardens. This is a great time to check out the gardens and see all of the native Florida landscaping.
Date Night Movie Night will be held on Friday, Sept. 2 in the gardens featuring the 1950s version of “Father of the Bride.” Bring s blanket and a picnic basket for a romantic evening under the stars. Admission for date night is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

Cranes Roost Park
Located in Uptown Altamonte, Cranes Roost lake offers a place to go to enjoy a day outdoors. The park offers a one-mile walking trail, fountain and amphitheater. Free concerts and other shows are offered throughout the year. For Labor Day pack a picnic and enjoy the day at the park. Park hours for Labor Day weekend are Friday and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to midnight and Sunday and Monday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Pack a picnic and spend the day enjoying the open spaces, fountain, walking trails and taking a ride in a swan on the lake at Lake Eola. The park is open over the Labor Day weekend with the Sunday Farmer’s Market open to all guests visiting the park. For more information about Lake Eola visit CityofOrlando.net.
Party at CityWalk, located at Universal Studios Orlando, for Labor Day on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011. The event will feature live music, dancing, food and drinks. Cost for the event is $10 per person and all guests must be 21 years of age or older to join in. Church Street Car Show
Check out some classic cars at the Church Street Car Show to be held on Saturday, Sept. 3 from noon until 5 p.m. Everyone’s favorite classic cars, some custom designed cars and some race cars will be on display for your enjoyment.
