Florida offers some great vacation experiences and if you are in the mood for really celebrating and experiencing the beach, then I would look to Pensacola Beach. The beaches are beautiful and look like white sugar. The water truly is that emerald green color and yes, the beaches and water are clean. There is an abundance of seashells to be collected and miles and miles of beaches to walk. For those with children there is a lifeguard at the beach and for those wanting more privacy, there are other spots on the beach to go to that are less crowded. Pensacola, Florida is famous for its beaches but there is so much more to do and explore.
Fort Pickens is a historical site and is open to the public to explore. It is a brick fort that you can walk through and it overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. There is a gift shop as well that sells books and miscellaneous items for tourists. It has proven to be a great way to spend a day with the kids as they can run around and play and explore and mom and dad can walk and get in some activity.
The National Naval Aviation Museum is located in Pensacola and it is filled with historical naval warplanes from the first aircraft carrier flight to modern aircraft such as the Blue Angels. If you are interested in aviation I would highly recommend this museum. It is located on the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, which is home to the Blue Angels. The Blue Angels can be seen flying through the sky frequently and they are amazing to watch. Each year they put on a show in Pensacola which always draws record crowds of people to the beach. They put on shows throughout the country so if you can’t make it to Florida, check their website for show times and locations. Perhaps they will come to a city near you!
If you love seafood and dining out then you won’t be disappointed in what the city has to offer. Joe Patti’s Seafood is a famous landmark and if you enjoy fresh seafood, this is where to get it! They will steam your shrimp for you while you wait and if you are a fan of fresh sushi, they have that as well. Be prepared to wait because sometimes the lines get long but it is well worth it! It has become a Christmas tradition to get fresh seafood from Joe Patti’s and one that my family will continue to celebrate. There is an abundance of dining in the city from affordable to expensive.
Throughout the years vacationing in Pensacola, my family has always been in awe of the beauty of the white sandy beaches along the Gulf Coast. The best thing about Pensacola, Florida is it’s a truly topnotch place to vacation that is affordable and close to home. I look forward to making many more memories there.
