Fall is the perfect time of year to enjoy the crisp fresh air and harvest fresh fruits and vegetables. In the following paragraphs, I will describe five farms that are open to the public and that harvest produce in the fall in Maryland.
Miller’s Farm is located at 10140 Piscataway Road in Clinton Maryland 20735. The fall season is a splendid time at Millers Farm. Visitors enjoy visiting the pumpkin patch, where they can select their own pumpkin. The farm also provides a hayride that passes by scarecrow folk in different funny poses. Also the tour of the barn area is provided so that visitors can meet farm animals. In addition youngsters can visit the corn maze that was specifically constructed for them. The hours of the hayride and pumpkin patch hours and admission price are: weekends, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission s $8.00 per person. Weekdays are by reservation only. I have visited Miller’s farm and have enjoyed the homemade ice-cream and doughnuts they provide for sale. Al.so the store sells old fashioned candy, jams and jellies, produce, local honey from the state of Maryland and more food products as well. They also sell animal feed. Next I am going to talk about Forest Hill Farm located at 3916 Avie Lane in Mechanicsville MD 20659 They are open seasonally from August to November. The farm offers U-Pick greens during the autumn season. They have kale, curly and flat) cress, spinach, cabbage, brussel sprouts, mustard greens, and collard greens. It costs only $1 a bag. The hours for pick your own greens are every day of the week Sunday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to dusk. They also provide a corn maze for the children. Every year a new corn maze is constructed. How about Emily’s Produce located at 2206 Church Creek Road in Cambridge, MD 21613? The phone number is 410-228-3512 or 443-521-0789. The fall hours are 9 to 5 Monday thru Saturday. They offer locally grown produce, which includes a pick, your own pumpkin patch. They also sell homegrown mums from their greenhouse. Last but not least I am going to talk about Queen’s Anne Farm located at 18102 Central Avenue, Mitchellville, MD 20716. The phone number is (301) 249-2427. It is owned by Carl and Carol Brady. All the vegetables a pesticide free and they offer seven varieties of hybrid pumpkins in the pick your own pumpkin patch. They also offer a petting farm, hayrides and school tours.
