Survivor has become an iconic must-see moment in television history. As we are just mere days from the start of the latest season (the 23rd), with a mostly fresh batch of castaways trying to ‘Outwit, Outplay, and Outlast’, let’s take a moment to preview Survivor: South Pacific.
September 14, 2011, next Wednesday at 8 PM, Survivor: South Pacific launches. As with the last season – a season completely dominated by Boston Rob, there will be two returning fan favorites. This season they are Ozzy Lusth and Benjamin ‘Coach’ Wade. Anybody who’s watched Survivor in the past knows that Ozzy and Coach are two completely different personalities.
Ozzy is the human dolphin. He is a free spirit who will make friends easily, not rock the boat, and generally, be well liked by all – both by his tribe and the viewers at home. He will have a massive target on his back due to the incredible number of immunity challenges he has won in the past. Though he has never won a season of Survivor, he is a large threat. But he is also a tremendous asset to his tribe. He is skillful, well-versed in the comings and goings of tribal life, and he is very good at competitions. It would serve his tribe well to keep him around; for a while. Question we all want answered – Is Ozzy with Amanda?
Coach, on the other hand, is the polar opposite of Ozzy. Coach strives for individuality but deeply wants the acceptance of his fellow tribe mates. He is reminiscent of the kid picked last for dodgeball who somehow makes it to the end on sheer guts and will alone. His ‘Dragonslayer’ persona will be back, too. This is Coach’s alter-ego, his doppleganger if you will that comes out when Coach wants to shake things up. It can be annoying but it is harmless. Coach is smart enough to win. He is strong enough to win. The thing that could keep him from winning is his personality. He has a way of rubbing people the wrong way. In the simplest terms – you either love him or you hate him. Personally, I love him. Question we all want answered – Did/has anything happened between Coach and Jerri?
