Who would think anyone would produce a television program about aquariums? It’s an odd subject unless they see Wayde King and Brett Raymer’s extraordinary, one-of-a-kind aquariums.
Wayde feels, “Our tanks are beautiful living art and can be seen all over the world. We at Acrylic are known to build anything from a small five gallon tank up to a million gallon tank.”
It’s an unusual business and the sets for “TANKED” are right here in Las Vegas. The public can go to their different locations to visit these exciting aquariums and maybe they would even see Wayde and Brett swimming or jumping into the mega-sized tanks.
Scheduled for its world premiere on Friday, August 19, the first episode of “TANKED”, “Swimming with the Sharks” was filmed at the Tropicana Hotel for the “Mob Experience”. The two men have something very unique here but of course most of their aquariums are different. Two 32″ flat screen television sets were submerged inside the Mob Experience tank with a video of . . . “The Godfather” for everyone to watch.
Brett explained, “It is a themed aquarium based upon the mob. When we think of the mob we think of old Las Vegas and old New York. The aquarium is themed around sledge hammers, dynamite, Tommy guns, and cement shoes. Whatever you think of when you think about the mob is incorporated into the aquarium along with a variety of exotic fish and a variety of coral.
The shoes in the cement were mine. My partner actually took them off my feet. We do everything for the business, even the shoes off my feet.”
This aquarium is also interactive. The dynamite inside the tank is connected to a plunger which the public can push down and instead of exploding you get a lot of bubbles.”
This L-shaped 1,000 gallon tank takes up a whole corner 16′ long by 4′ high sitting on a 3′ base and is located across from the Mob Experience ticket counter.
Each episode of “TANKS” runs one hour featuring three different stories. Along with the Mob Experience viewers will see Wayde’s wife, Heather reluctantly climb into a tank filled with sharks during the first episode.
Part of the excitement of “TANKS” is seeing these amazing awe-inspiring aquariums created and built right before your eyes. You never know what to expect with Wayde, Brett and their family! This is a comedy with real people not actors. This duo are business partners, brothers-in-law, best friends, pranksters and constant rivals.
