Last week on “The Biggest Loser,” Bob headed to Texas to work exclusively with Black Team member Sunny, whose weight loss determined the percentage for the entire team. Anna and Blue Team member Bonnie continued to have a tug-of-war relationship. This week, the contestants had to work together as one team to lose a total of 100 lbs. at the weigh in so that no one had to go home. Love was also in the air for two of the contestants. So, did everyone get to stay on the ranch for another week or did another person have to go home?
“The Biggest Loser” opened to a creepy kitchen scene with Alison dressed as the bride of Frankenstein. She used this time to point out the unhealthy aspects of Halloween. For instance, Americans spends an average of $44 on candy a year, with 20 million pounds of candy corn sold. People eat an average of 24 lbs. of candy per year. Of course, the temptation centered on sweet confectionery goodies. Alison unveiled a scale with a bucket holding tons of candy. For every pound of candy each person ate, it equaled a pound of weight loss on the scale. She then revealed that they needed to reach 100 lbs. as a group to keep everyone at the ranch another week, 10 lbs. per contestant.
Everyone got to train with each trainer. The Red Team told Dolvett about the week’s challenge, and a sly smile crossed his face. Dolvett used this as an opportunity to work with Black Team members. Bob targeted the Blue Team, particularly Bonnie. She needed to be pushed after last week’s issues. Black Team member Jennifer, who has gotten attached to Bob, kept looking at him instead of focusing on the chance to work with someone new. Bob showed the rest of the people why he’s been a successful trainer on “The Biggest Loser.” Dolvett took John aside to peel away the layers; viewers learned that John is an adoptive father. We even learned that Dolvett was adopted.
Alison met them at a maze with hundreds of apples. They had 10 minutes to gather as many apples as possible. If they gathered 150 lbs. of apples, they’d get a 5-lb. advantage while gathering 200 lbs. equaled a 10-lb. advantage. The contestants could return to the maze to gather more apples. If anyone was left in the maze at the end of 10 minutes, they’d get a 5-lb. disadvantage. They all made it out within the last 20 seconds and got a 10-lb. advantage, meaning they only needed to lose a total of 90 lbs.
Inside, they all decided to hide the candy from Bob, making him think they go the advantage by eating all of it. Bob was not amused. The trainers worked together. Sunny called it the “triangle of death.” First, they worked with Bob in the gym. Next, they joined Anna on the tennis court. Lastly, Dolvett created an outdoor cardio circuit. Bonnie screamed so loud during Bob’s workout that everyone thought she was being tortured. Dolvett has this evil smile when he’s tormenting them. Everyone had ice packs and ice baths after a hard day in the gym. Later, Bob got back at a few of them for the candy trick by making them push each other up a hill in barrels.
Love was in the air on “The Biggest Loser,” as Ramon and Jessica revealed their relationship. The two of them had a picnic, and they talked about their feelings. It looks like another “Biggest Loser” wedding is in the future. Anna talked to Jessica about her relationship with Ramone and the cause of her weight gain. Anna told her to make sure to focus on herself despite her relationship because a lot of her weight gain was due to losing herself. Truth is, Anna knows about distraction. One of the reasons she doesn’t have a tennis tournament was distractions caused by endorsements and personal relationships. She said as much at the weigh in.
The trainers came to the kitchen dressed as the Three Musketeers and a barrel of candy. The trainers told them to fill buckets with 10 lbs. of candy to use as weights in the last-chance workout. Everyone was into working with different trainings, except Jennifer. Bob made them crawl on the floor underneath each other like a human bridge. Jessica held Antone on her back, a man more then 50 lbs. heavier than her.
As a group, they only lost 38 lbs. total, sending all of them to the elimination room. John had the highest percentage of weight loss, so he received immunity. John also hit the 100-lb. mark in six weeks. It was the first time the Black Team had to send someone home. It seemed like the Black Team had the advantage because they had all of their members. Jennifer, though, looked like she had a bad attitude this week and isolated herself for most of her stay. She went home with six votes, three of which came from her team. At home, she weighed 228 lbs., losing more than 100 lbs.
Like the old saying goes, “No man is an island.” Jennifer didn’t learn that during her stay on the ranch. She failed to form relationships with other people, including the people on her team. This led to her early exit. Next week, the teams get rearranged. Hopefully, the new teams will produce higher weight-loss numbers and mental changes
