First of all let me say that I have a true burden for the youth of today! Partly because I wasted my youth and never got to do what God had meant for me to do. My parents believed that a mediocre existence was all that one should ever expect, unlike parents today who want their children to utilize all their God given talents to the fullest. Today’s’ children and young adults are much smarter than we were and will not easily except any type of traditional religion. In that I agree with them! True Christianity is not a religion, it is a walk. Sure when you learn how to walk with Jesus you will have a desire to go to church so that you can fellowship with other believers. However, if you do not find a Bible based church then you are looking in the wrong direction. You need to find a church that is firmly grounded in the word of God, not tradition. Too many churches are more about tradition and ceremony than Christianity. You see Christianity means to be in Christ. You cannot be in Christ until you have accepted Him as your personal Savior
God is concerned about every detail of your life
Once you accept Christ as your Savior you then can start your walk with Christ. He is concerned about every detail of our existence and wants us to develop all of our talents and skills to the best of our ability. God does not want us to waste our lives in a mediocre existence.
Many young people in my generation were turned off by their parent’s hypocritical type of Christianity. Why?? Because for the most part these parents merely wanted well behaved children and did not know about the freeing relationship that one can have with Christ. Many very well meaning Christian parents never opened the Bible to give their children the knowledge as to how to have an actual relationship with a living and very loving God. These parents were too busy teaching their children all the dos and don’ts of Christianity and expecting these same children to obey just because they were told to do so! True obedience does not work that way. True obedience comes from a loving relationship with a living God. How can one expect their children to understand what they themselves can’t seem to understand? No one can truly be good without the power of God enabling them to do so and for that we need a day to day personal relationship with Christ. Oh yes, there are many who look good on the outside but God knows their true motives.
The Bible says…
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“But your iniquities have separated you from God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2
“For God the loved the World the He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him hath eternal life.” John 3:16
Jesus Christ is the only answer to our problem of being separated from God. He died on the Cross and rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin and bridging the gap between God and people.
“For Christ Jesus also has suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God…” 1 Peter 3:18a
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
We must trust Jesus Christ and receive Him by personal invitation.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.” John 1:12
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
My Prayers for today’s youth
It is my prayer that our precious youth of today will come to a true saving knowledge of Christ so that they can partake in a real relationship with Christ not just empty religious tradition like so many of their parents. Over 20 years ago I told my parents about a relationship with Christ. At that time they had no knowledge of such a rewarding and real relationship with a living and loving God. Instead all they had was the duty and obligation of practicing their religious traditions that their parents had handed down to them.
After my parents accepted Christ as their personal savior there was a positive and very dramatic change in their lives! You see after you accept Christ as your personal Savior His Holy Spirit comes to indwell you thus enabling you to live a Holy Life. However, one must continually submit to God’s will for their lives. God will never force us to be human robots! He wants our love and robots cannot love!
