Reports of the alleged breakup of Hollywood power couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have spread like wildfire across the Internet. Although the couple announced that “the rumors are completely false,” according to Entertainment Tonight, the story, broken by In Touch Weekly, has fans across the country worried about the ever-talented Smith family. The couple has been married for over 13 years and here is how it all came to be… and how the rumors started:
After majoring in dance and choreography at the Baltimore School of the Arts, Jada Pinkett got her start acting in television movies and specials such as “True Colors,” “Moe’s World,” and “Doogie Howser, M.D.”
The same year Will Smith was cast as the title character for the show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” The show remained on the air for six years and guest stared several actors, such as Tyra Banks, Sherman Hemsley, Queen Latifa, and Nia Long.
“Fresh Prince” held auditions for the role of Lisa, Will’s girlfriend. Pinkett auditioned for the role but was told that she was too short so it was given to Nia Long. Although Will and Jada were not able to work together on the show, they continued to communicate.
Smith separated from his then-wife Sheree Zampino and turned to his good friend Pinkett to help him with the split. She was quoted in People Magazine as saying, “I helped him understand what happened in his marriage and he helped me see what happened in my relationship. He’s become my best friend. There’s nothing I can’t say to him, nothing I can’t share.”

Smith and Pinkett turn their long friendship into the ultimate relationship. At the time of their marriage, Jada was almost two months pregnant with the couple’s first child.
Smith was the first of the pair to open up about their open relationship. In an interview with UK’s Now Magazine, Smith stated, “If it came down to it, then one would say to the other: ‘Look, I need to have sex with somebody. Now I’m not going to do it if you don’t approve of it.'”
Jada, now a producer and musician on top of her acting success, stars in a new show on TNT titled “HawthoRNe.”
It was Jada’s turn to speak about the openness of their marriage. She was interviewed on the “COCO, Foolish and Mr. Chase” radio show and opened up about her open relationship with Will. According to TV One Online, she said:
“We always have people that were attracted to that we talk about. That don’t stop just because you’re married. Somebody’s always gonna catch your eye. That’s real. Somebody’s gonna always be prettier than me, and somebody’s always gonna be more in awe of him than me and he gonna be like (in Will’s voice) ‘yo she really like me’ (laughter) but as far as somebody being right for us… is there somebody right for a nice night? Maybe. But somebody that can sustain our life and sustain what we’ve built together, absolutely not!”
This was also the year that Marc Anthony, husband of Jennifer Lopez, took a guest role on “HawthoRNe.” Anthony played Nick Renata, a love interest of Jada’s character.
Anthony and Jennifer Lopez end their seven-year marriage. According to People, a rumor surfaced that Marc and Jada were cheating on their respective spouses.
