Oct. 27, 2011, approximately 10:15 p.m. MST.
There I was in my St. Louis Cardinals winter jacket watching Game 6 of the World Series, flopped on the couch, waiting with my thumb on the TV remote’s power button. No way was I going to watch the Texas Rangers celebrate a World Series championship at Busch Stadium.
Seconds later, David Freese lined a two-out, two-run triple over Nelson Cruz’s head to tie the game 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth. I jumped, screamed, cried (maybe a little), text messaged family members, ran around in circles.
And you know the rest of the story: “We will see you tomorrow night.”
I never did turn my TV off…
